But I tried and tried for many weeks and kept on learning. Finally, I won a project and I completed it successfully to earn $30. This money was not much but this was all I needed: I also got an Excellent Rating and I used this money to pay for gold membership [at that time, gold membership fee was $12].
So my suggestion will be to work at different freelance sites [after doing lot of researching about this business] instead of sticking to one site.
There are sites where there is no paid membership: hence all users can place the same number of bids. Example of such site is Scriptlance [SL]: you can join all three sites: SL, FL and EL. Try to get jobs at all these sites: once you have earned some money at either FL or EL, use it to upgrade your membership.
Or if you are able to earn money at SL, then you can withdraw it via PayPal or MoneyBookers and use it to upgrade your membership at FL and/or EL.
